Get to know the Five Steps In 5 Minutes for the best morning skincare routine.
Healthy skin and skincare is a lifestyle, not something that happens overnight. That’s why there’s no single skincare routine that you can call complete, it all depends on your skin needs, to each their own.
To maintain good skin health, you should have a suitable and separate, night-time and day-time skincare routine. We said separate because both the routines serve a different purpose, at night you should focus on targeted treatments and concerns but during the day-time, your focus should be on protecting and preserving your skin, majorly from sun and pollution.
On that note, let’s simplify the daily routine for healthy skin and jump straight into the deets, shall we? Before we move forward, let us tell you the ultimate skin tip.
But First, Sequence!
You read it right. How you layer your products can completely change the way they work on your skin. There’s a reason why we start with cleansing and end with sunscreen, products can only work effectively if you layer them right.
Doing It The Right Way, Step By Step
The morning skin care routine should start with a glass of water. Though we won’t count it as a step but hydrating your body simply means hydrating your skin and no product can do what water does, so drink your glass and let’s start.
Step 1 – pH Balancing Face Wash Or Cleanser
Start with a clean slate. Splash some water and while your face is still damp, work your face wash/ cleanser as foam and let it sit on your face for a couple of minutes. Rinse with cold water and don’t rub but dab your face, with a clean, soft washcloth.
Step 2 – Toner
Most people would easily skip this, thinking it’s unnecessary. The reality is, a toner is the first barrier product that helps to hydrate and balance your skin’s pH. The right way to use a toner is to press it into the skin. You don’t need a cotton pad, take a few drops on your palm then pat and press it softly into your skin with your fingers.
Step 3 – Serum
Your daily skin care routine for glowing skin is incomplete without a serum, But most of the time we don’t layer it right. The right sequence is to use it before the moisturizer so your skin can absorb its goodness. The best part about serums is that they act as a barrier between your skin and the environmental stressors and keep your skin hydrated and nourished throughout the day. A little goes a long way, Press a few drops into freshly toned skin and you’re good to move on to the next step.
Step 4 – Moisturiser
Your day-time moisturiser should be lightweight, non-greasy and hydrating. Don’t skip it thinking SPF will do the job, it’s for a different purpose altogether. Moisturiser helps to lock the serum into the skin and creates a nourishing film for the smooth application of your sunscreen. Softly massage a generous dollop and wait for a few minutes before you apply the SPF.
Step 5 – Sunscreen
Use a Broad Spectrum sunscreen. To break this down, there’s a protection grade, SPF and PA. SPF measures only UVB protection (UVB rays can cause redness and burns) and PA measures UVA (UVA causes deep damage – aging, fine lines). Broad-spectrum sunscreen gives higher protection. Choose something that ranges above SPF 30+ and should have at least PA +++ (‘+’ measure its efficacy). Gel-based sunscreen would work well for oily skin type and cream-based for dry skin. Use the two-finger rule and apply it all over your face, neck and ears as well.
Pro Tip :
Double Cleanse at night to dissolve all the sunblock because a regular cleanser might not be enough. Not removing your products properly can clog your pores, give you breakouts and make your skin texture look uneven and bumpy.
That’s it for this time, we hope this simple and good-to-go guide helps you to find you ‘Your’ morning skin care routine. Remember, your skin knows what it needs, you just have to listen to it.
