Skincare is fun and so is trying out new products, but not when your skin is sensitive. It’s hard to calm the storm when things go south- allergic reactions, redness, breakouts and what not!

Do this, not that

  • Skip the morning cleanse and closely check your face wash/ cleanser, it should be gentle and not too drying
  • Keep your skin cool, use mists and hydrating serums and avoid strong, fragrant products
  • You can use a calming face mask but make sure it does not have any exfoliating particles
  • Use moisturizers and always wear sunscreen, avoid sun exposure as much as possible
  • Avoid physical or chemical exfoliation for at least 2-3 weeks

Keep it Simple

Here are some ingredients, easily available and great to heal and calm the damage,

  • Colloidal oats

Don’t be confused, it’s just your regular breakfast ingredient with a twist. Colloidal oats are powdered so that it can be mixed with other ingredients, it’s light on the skin and works better. Rich in vitamins and minerals, Oats calm the redness, itchiness and inflammation. It also helps to heal the damage and makes skin soft and supple.  Make a nourishing face mask by mixing it with a spoonful of plain yogurt, apply generously all over your face and wash off after 10 minutes.

  • Chamomile

You might have tried chamomile tea to calm your stress, well it does the same for your skin. It’s relaxing, reduces redness, and even helps to calm active acne. You can soak some chamomile flowers in a cup of normal water (dry flowers will work too) and use that water as a toner or a mist, it will help your skin to cool down and relax.

  • Soy milk

Soy milk is rich in antioxidants, the compounds found in it can help improve your skin barrier and repair the damage. You can simply soak a cotton ball in some soy milk and gently rub it all over your face, repeat it twice or thrice if needed.

We hope you found some useful tricks today, the ingredients suggested here are easily available and work effectively but we will still suggest you do a patch test before putting anything on your face.  Take care and stay glowing!
